The information service of the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that the signing of the document marks the first step in cooperation in this area.
During the meeting, the parties discussed efforts to reduce methane emissions in Uzbekistan. It is worth noting that Uzbekistan joined the Global Methane Commitment in 2022, becoming the second country in Central Asia to join the GMP.
In line with Uzbekistan's commitments under the Paris Agreement, cooperation was agreed upon regarding a long-term low-carbon development strategy and climate resilience for Uzbekistan.
It was highlighted that the signed memorandum will explore and implement mechanisms for a "greening" program of the financial system amounting to up to 200 million dollars.
The outcome of the meeting also included an agreement on reducing methane emissions in waste management and water supply, as well as the implementation of the national Nexus platform for water, food, and energy.
