A new campus has opened at the Tashkent branch of RSPU.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. Today marked the official inauguration of the new campus of the branch of the Russian State Pedagogical University named after Alexander Herzen in Tashkent, as reported by a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.

The symbolic button to open the campus was pressed by the university rector Sergey Tarasov along with the students of the branch.

The ceremony was also attended by the chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva, the Minister of Preschool and School Education Hilola Umarova, and the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Kongratbay Sharipov.

From the Russian side, the honored guests of the ceremony included Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.

"In Uzbekistan, great importance is placed on the training of highly skilled professionals in all fields, with a particular emphasis on cooperation in this area with Russia. It is no coincidence that 14 branches of leading Russian universities operate in the country. The republic pays significant attention to the teaching of the Russian language," noted Narbaeva.

Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized that the opening of the new campus is a contribution to the future development of Uzbekistan and Russia.

"Here, teachers are trained who will then educate our children – this is the most important investment we are making," he remarked.

As branch director Sergey Barchenko explained, the new campus is designed for 2,000 students. In the first phase, the academic building, administrative office, sports hall, and assembly hall have been put into operation. Another building, a dormitory for 395 places, and an administrative building are planned to be completed by 2026.

The branch of RGPU was opened in Tashkent in 2021. Currently, 1,100 students are studying there, preparing to become preschool educators, psychologists, special education teachers, primary school teachers, and Russian language instructors. The first graduation of bachelor’s and master’s students is scheduled for 2025. More than 65% of the courses at the branch are taught by the faculty of the main university. Its graduates will receive state-recognized diplomas that will be acknowledged in both Uzbekistan and Russia.

It is worth noting that Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Alexey Chekunov arrived in Tashkent on a working visit.
