On November 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with proposals for the development of culture and arts, particularly regarding the further support of theaters and enhancing their significance in the cultural life of society.
This issue was raised at the meeting of the Republican Council on Spirituality and Enlightenment, which took place on December 22 of last year. Responsible officials presented information on the measures developed.
From 2025 to 2030, a cycle of 32 performances on the themes of “National Hero” and “In the Name of Honor and Dignity of a Person” is planned for creation.
Proposals were made to support creative collaboration in the creation of stage works, dramaturgy, and directing. In particular, it is suggested to establish awards named after Mahmudhoji Behbudi for playwrights and after Bahodir Yuldashev for young directors, launch a creative project “Nigoh,” and hold a composers' competition in academic music.
It was noted that to strengthen the connection between culture, arts, and education, it is necessary to expand practical activities in theaters and to establish orders for conducting research dedicated to theater.
A school of mastery for actors and theater directors, theater critics, and art historians will be created. Clubs for theater critics and playwrights will be organized with support for their activities. Annually, state orders will also be awarded to non-governmental theaters.
Amateur theater groups will be established in general education and higher educational institutions, where competitions will be held among them. The program “Theater - School of Life” will be implemented, which includes regular visits to theaters by youth.
Starting next year, a national ranking of theatrical groups in Uzbekistan will be compiled. The buildings of theaters in the regions will undergo major renovations and modernization using modern technologies. The State Musical Theater named after Mukimi will be granted academic status.
In addition, special attention was paid during the presentation to stimulating the activities of professionals in the field. From 2025, the salaries of cultural, artistic, information-library, and museum workers will be increased.
The material interest of employees will be linked to their performance indicators (KPI), which will take into account criteria such as providing cultural services to the population, especially tours in remote areas, creating new works, and identifying talented youth.
Also, starting in 2025, the salaries of workers in the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan will be significantly increased. The orchestra will annually create new musical works based on state orders, and schools of mastery for talented conductors and orchestral performers will be organized, along with concert tours of the orchestra across the regions and abroad, as well as concerts for employees of large enterprises and organizations.
At the same time, the President issued instructions to elevate education in the field of culture and arts to a new level. Tasks were set to develop a unified system for identifying, selecting, training, and nurturing talented youth, ensuring coherence of curricula and programs across general, extracurricular, vocational, and higher education systems, as well as in cultural and artistic institutions.
