Dear compatriots! I sincerely congratulate you and, through you, our entire nation, all those who genuinely cherish our native language, on this wonderful day – the Holiday of the Uzbek Language and the 35th anniversary of its designation as the state language.

As is well known, the national language is an invaluable, immense treasure that reflects the history of the people, its uniqueness, spiritual world, and culture. Our native language, which united us as a single nation during the most challenging and testing periods of our ancient history, carrying our everlasting core values through the ages, truly deserves love and respect.

Today, significant work is being carried out in our country to develop the state language, enhance its status and role, and promote it widely in the world.

In recent years, the documentation of many agencies has been translated into the state language, the names of over 100,000 geographic locations have been included in the state registry, and in various regions, more than 150,000 units of external advertising and information have been brought in line with the legal requirements in this area.

To systematically introduce new modern concepts and various terms into official use, the activities of the Terminology Commission have been radically improved, and scientific criteria in this field have been developed.

Starting from last year, a linguistic examination system has been implemented for reviewing drafts of regulatory legal acts, which serves to thoroughly prepare the relevant documents according to the requirements and methodology of the state language.

A national testing system has been introduced to determine the level of Uzbek language proficiency for candidates applying for managerial positions. In a short time, around 1,500 certificates of proficiency in the state language have been issued to more than 3,000 applicants.

To ensure a deep and comprehensive study of the foundations of the state language, the Foundation for the Development of the Uzbek Language under the Cabinet of Ministers has published encyclopedias, dictionaries, and manuals in 58 titles in large print runs.

Significant progress has been made in recent years regarding the digitization of the Uzbek language. A "smart" program has been developed for processing texts and communicating in the Uzbek language using artificial intelligence, and a website titled "Explanatory Dictionary of the Uzbek Language" has been created.

Additionally, electronic text editing programs in the Uzbek language, conversion into Latin and Cyrillic scripts, as well as providing definitions of words, are actively being utilized in practice.

Starting January 1, 2025, teachers of the Uzbek language in general education schools who possess a national certificate will receive a monthly allowance of 50 percent of their salary, which will undoubtedly stimulate the noble work of dedicated educators.

The immense importance of artistic translation in the development of the language is well recognized. I am confident that the recently established international award for artistic translation named after Muhammad Rizo Ogahi will be an important factor in further enriching the Uzbek language and literature and promoting them abroad.

It is noteworthy that thanks to the efforts of the Youth Affairs Agency, which has engaged the potential of a patriotic young generation, the amount of information in the Uzbek language on the international internet encyclopedia "Wikipedia" has significantly increased, and Uzbekistan leads the Central Asian region in the volume of articles published in the state language.

During the past period, more than 33,000 employees from various organizations and agencies have completed training at the Center for Teaching the Basics of Document Management in the State Language and Professional Development at the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi. Additionally, free language courses have been organized at this center and its regional branches for our compatriots wishing to learn the Uzbek language.

I would like to particularly highlight the important work being carried out to preserve the language, traditions, and spiritual values of representatives of over 130 nationalities and ethnic groups living in our country in an atmosphere of friendship, harmony, and tolerance. In particular, the educational process in the republic's schools is conducted in 7 languages, around 160 national cultural centers operate, and mass media publish materials in Karakalpak, Russian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, and Turkmen languages.

Regular programs for learning the Uzbek language are broadcast on central television and radio channels, which assists in its acquisition by representatives of other nationalities living in the country.

Dear friends!

We still have much to do to fully utilize the potential of the Uzbek language, enhance its status, and increase its attractiveness on the global stage.

The state language, as is the case in highly developed democratic countries, should primarily serve to unify society, bringing all citizens together as one nation, regardless of their language and nationality. We all deeply understand that in such a sensitive and delicate matter as language, it is essential to act thoughtfully and cautiously, avoiding excessive emotions.

The state language develops through the collective efforts not only of specialists in the field but also of our entire multinational populace, its vast intellectual and spiritual potential, and patriotism.

To strengthen an atmosphere of respect and adherence to laws in the country, particularly through the consistent implementation of the Law "On the State Language," we must all demonstrate high culture and mutual understanding.

In this direction, improving the quality of education through further enhancement of the system for teaching the Uzbek language and literature in all educational institutions is of great importance.

The issues of increasing the quantity and airtime of programs for teaching the state language on television, radio channels, and internet sites, as well as publishing additional literature, dictionaries, and manuals for those studying the language independently, will always remain at the forefront of our attention.

An urgent task for us is also to elevate the work of widely integrating the Uzbek language into the digital space to include it among the languages of major software products.

Dear compatriots!

Once again, I congratulate you on today’s wonderful holiday, wishing you all good health and success, and peace and prosperity for your families.

May the wealth, beauty, and strength of our Uzbek language continue to grow!

Shavkat Mirziyoyev,

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
