The region is located in the center of our country, with well-developed trade, industry, tourism, transport, and agriculture. The tasks set during the president's visit in August 2023 are being systematically implemented.

Now, new milestones need to be achieved. To this end, meetings have been held with the population and entrepreneurs, resulting in the identification of 120 projects worth 4.1 billion dollars. In particular, next year, it is planned to attract investments amounting to 1 billion 850 million dollars in the Samarkand region as part of regional programs, create 20,000 jobs, and additionally produce goods worth 1.2 trillion sums.

For example, in the village of Chimboyobod in the Pastdargom district, a special industrial zone can be established on 234 hectares of land reserved by the khokimiyat. Entrepreneurs have expressed their readiness to invest 500 million dollars and initiate projects in pharmaceuticals, chemistry, electrical engineering, construction materials, and the food industry.

If 25 hectares of rocky land around the Zarafshan River are included in the "Urgut" free economic zone, this will enable the realization of projects worth 30 million dollars. Additionally, it is planned to implement projects worth 500 billion sums in the first phase, which include organizing a 35-kilometer tourist route along the Dargom canal and a gastronomic bridge over the Narpay canal.

It is necessary to transform pastures and rainfed lands in the region into economic assets. For instance, in the Samarkand district, a tourism and recreation zone can be created on 350 hectares of rainfed land, accommodating a thousand entrepreneurs and creating 3,500 jobs.

The soil and climate of Bulungur are favorable for horticulture. If 6,000 hectares of low-efficiency grain fields in the region are specialized for growing fruit and vegetable products, the income from each hectare will exceed 10,000 dollars, providing employment for 45,000 people. Half of the production will be exported, ensuring an additional export revenue of 52 million dollars.

Residents of Ishtikhan, Urgut, Payarik, and Koshrobod cultivate grapes on 35,000 hectares. However, the yield is low due to a lack of skills in planting high-yield varieties, disease control, and the application of new agronomic practices. In this regard, it has been proposed to establish a research station of the Scientific Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture in Ishtikhan. This station will cultivate seedlings using in vitro techniques and grow market-demanded grape varieties such as "Giant," "Sirliboy," and "Avatar." As a result, the yield will increase by 25-30 centners, and exports will rise by 20 million dollars.

There is also potential to open enterprises for mineral processing based on deposits in Koshrobod, Ishtikhan, Nurabad, Pastdargom, Pakhtachi, and Urgut.

At the meeting, the khokim of the Samarkand region presented measures to utilize untapped opportunities.

The head of state approved these proposals and instructed to draft a resolution aimed at improving the investment climate and business environment in the Samarkand region. Directives were given to place projects based on a master plan, create even more jobs and modern housing, and enhance the population's well-being.
