Issues related to enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation with leading companies from Saudi Arabia were discussed during the meeting between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Chairman of the Saudi-Uzbek Business Council, Mohammad Abunayyan, who is also the head of “ACWA Power.”
The head of our state noted with great satisfaction the dynamic development of fruitful partnership with “ACWA Power,” which is a strategic investor in Uzbekistan’s green energy sector. To date, 4 projects have been successfully implemented with a total value of approximately 3 billion dollars, while the current project portfolio amounts to 15 billion dollars.
Additionally, today marked the launch of several joint projects: two wind power plants with a capacity of 500 megawatts each have been connected to the grid in the Bukhara region, and the construction of two solar power plants with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt in the Samarkand region and an energy storage system of 334 megawatts in the Tashkent region has begun.
During the meeting, special attention was given to the implementation of cooperation projects in the modernization of energy, transport, and utility infrastructure, development of information and communication technologies, textile industry, agriculture, and other priority areas.
The importance of expanding efforts to attract leading Saudi companies to our country within the framework of the joint Business Council's activities was emphasized.
