On November 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting regarding additional measures for the socio-economic development of the Khorezm region.
In recent years, entrepreneurship, agribusiness, and the service sector have been rapidly developing in Khorezm. The President's visit at the beginning of the year and the tasks outlined during that time have provided additional momentum to these efforts.
Next year, it is planned to attract 1.5 billion dollars in investments to the region. This will serve as a foundation for the establishment of numerous enterprises, job creation, and an increase in prosperity.
For example, if 175 hectares of land in the Kushkupyrlik district are annexed to the industrial zone, projects worth 1 billion dollars can be implemented. This will create 2,000 jobs in the electrical engineering, chemical, machine engineering, and pharmaceutical sectors.
Reducing the protective zone of the Shavat canal from 50 to 25 meters will allow for projects worth 30 million dollars. Services worth 1 trillion sums will be provided here, creating 2,500 new jobs. There are also opportunities for projects worth 50 million dollars around the Gazavat and Polvon canals.
There are untapped possibilities in agriculture and aquaculture as well. Conditions are favorable for expanding poultry farming in the Kushkupyrlik district and fish farming in the Bagat district. Improving water supply in Yangiarik will provide jobs for 1,200 people in the cultivation of melons, rice, and fish breeding.
There are proposals in the social sector as well. In particular, there is a high demand for quality education. Therefore, it is planned to renovate 44 schools and kindergartens and build new educational institutions based on public-private partnerships. Additionally, multi-profile medical centers are planned to be established in the Urgench, Bagat, Shavat, and Yangibazar districts.
The head of state instructed to summarize these proposals and prepare a draft resolution. It is essential to turn opportunities into results, provide people with jobs, and increase their incomes, the President emphasized.
