On November 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting regarding measures for socio-economic development, as well as further improvements to the investment climate and business environment in the Andijan region.
The Andijan region possesses significant economic potential. The president's visit in February of this year and the tasks set during it have provided an additional impetus for the region's development. Positive results have been achieved in the fields of industry, entrepreneurship, trade, services, tourism, and agriculture.
However, there are still many untapped opportunities. Studies conducted in the districts have revealed a number of possibilities.
For instance, Chinese investors have launched a project for growing peppers using drip irrigation and processing them on 600 hectares in the Altynkul and Jalakuduk districts. Calculations indicate that this will allow for the export of products worth $15,000 per hectare.
In the Pakhtaabad district, a collaboration with a company from the United Arab Emirates has been established to grow cherries and berries on 470 hectares. The entrepreneur has requested state support to ensure infrastructure development in line with timely investment commitments.
There is potential for the revival of operations at four poultry enterprises in the region, providing employment for 650 individuals from low-income families.
The company "ADM Electrics" in Asaka produces 28 types of wires and multimedia systems for vehicles. Expanding the localization of production for models such as "Onyx," "Tracker," and "Kia Sonet" will increase the company’s capacity and revenue.
During the meeting, the khokim of the Andijan region presented a draft resolution to utilize these and other opportunities. It outlines targeted indicators for the socio-economic development of the Andijan region for 2025. Specifically, it identifies goals for attracting investments totaling $3.1 billion, implementing 334 investment projects, ensuring employment for 305,000 individuals, and achieving exports worth $1 billion.
Additionally, considering the population density, opportunities will be created regarding land issues. The category of a total of 1,800 hectares of land will be changed, including unused agricultural areas and hilly plots. Production and service complexes, as well as residential buildings, will be constructed on these lands.
The head of state, approving the proposals, provided further instructions for the effective use of new opportunities, ensuring projects are equipped with modern infrastructure, and enhancing employment and income for the population.
