The digitization of the wagon ordering process has reduced the number of stages from 7 to 3, while the time for completion has decreased from 72 to 12 hours. Train capacity in the capital region has increased by 30 percent. Previously, the enterprise operated at a loss, but this year a profit of 30 billion sums is expected.
Progress is also evident in aviation. Uzbekistan Airways has increased the number of flights by 25 percent. For domestic routes, 8 new aircraft have been acquired, resulting in a 2.5-fold increase in the number of flights. The national airline's share in international transportation in Central Asia has reached 20 percent, and passenger traffic is expected to exceed 6 million people this year.
Uzbekistan Airports is responsible for servicing aircraft, cargo, and passengers. The involvement of the private sector in airport management has shown positive results. Currently, 44 international airlines operate flights to Uzbekistan. The volume of cargo transportation through airports is expected to grow by 22 percent this year.
Despite the achievements, there are still unresolved issues. The President noted that transport arteries play a crucial role amid global challenges.
The main areas of focus include route diversification, acceleration of transportation, and reduction of transport service costs.
The President emphasized that the country's economy and its foreign trade relations are actively developing, accompanied by an increase in population income and a rise in tourist flow. Given the goal to reach a GDP of 200 billion dollars by 2030, special attention will be given to developing transport infrastructure.
A new version of the Law on "Railway Transport" has been adopted, replacing outdated legislation from 25 years ago. The new law will open up opportunities for attracting private companies, investments, and speeding up infrastructure modernization.
Industry leaders have been tasked with changing approaches and methods of operation. Key objectives include:
- Accelerating the transformation of companies.
- Quality implementation of construction and modernization projects.
- Achieving an international credit rating.
- Attracting investments without state guarantees.
- Reducing the cost of services.
The air transport sector, according to the President, requires significant improvements. High costs of aviation services prevent ticket prices from being lowered, and measures to reduce expenses are not being implemented effectively enough. To address these issues, a transformation program and a "roadmap" will be developed with the involvement of consulting firms.
Uzbekistan Airports will focus on expanding private partnerships and increasing the volume of services provided. A successful model has been demonstrated at Samarkand Airport, where the number of flights and passengers increased fivefold after being transferred to private management. Similar measures are planned for the airports in Namangan, Andijan, Bukhara, and Urgench. By the end of the year, airport revenues are expected to increase by 25 percent.
The President also instructed to enhance the utilization of the Navoi airport terminal and attract additional international resources.
In conclusion, the President tasked to accelerate the digitization of processes in three key companies, review strategic plans, and focus on improving the economic efficiency of their operations.
