On November 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation of proposals aimed at engaging youth in sports.
As part of the "Uzbekistan – 2030" strategy and the state program for the Year of Supporting Youth and Business, extensive opportunities are being created for the younger generation. Over 10 million people are engaged in mass sports. Various competitions are held in all regions, as well as in educational and labor collectives.
The state program outlines tasks for further development and popularization of team sports. In line with this, a number of measures have been developed.
For instance, it is proposed to organize competitions in team sports called "Mahalla League" and "School League." The establishment of sports clubs in state higher educational institutions is planned, as well as competitions between them such as "Student League," "Minister's Cup," and "Rector's Cup."
National leagues for team sports will receive support. Regional sports clubs will be created under local khokimiyats. Efforts will be organized to identify, select, and scout talented youth based on the electronic system "ERP Sport."
Attention will be given to creating additional conditions for regular sports activities among youth.
According to the proposal, every Thursday will be designated as "Physical Culture and Sports Day." Based on the number of youth engaged and the results achieved, sports school staff will receive bonuses. Moreover, institutions will gradually specialize in certain sports, taking into account existing infrastructure.
A position for a mass sports selector coach will be introduced in sports schools, with each coach responsible for up to five mahallas and educational institutions. Coaches who organize clubs in mahallas will receive additional incentives.
The president emphasized that the sports sector is a crucial aspect of state youth policy and expressed his views on expanding opportunities at the local level, fostering a well-rounded young generation.
