Tesla's autonomous taxis will be operated remotely.

Tesla is continuing its efforts to develop a network of autonomous taxis; however, to ensure safety during the initial phase, remote operators are planned to be used. This was reported by Reuters citing the words of the company's head of investor relations, Travis Axelrod.

The executive pointed out that the need for operators will be temporary, but the timeline for a complete transition to autonomous vehicles remains unknown. The launch of the "supervised taxi" service is scheduled for next year in California and Texas.
