Samsung has officially made its choice regarding the chips for its upcoming flagship smartphone lineup. It has been revealed that all devices in the Galaxy S25 series — Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra — will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor globally. Previously, the company utilized different chips depending on the region.
The announcement of this new decision came from the well-known insider Ice Universe, who claims that all three models of the forthcoming Galaxy S25 series will operate on Qualcomm's platform. This news has been well received by Samsung fans eager to maximize performance from their Android devices.
In the past, Samsung used Exynos 2400 chips in its Galaxy S24 and S24+ in most countries, except for Canada, China, and the USA, where the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was installed. The Galaxy S24 Ultra universally operated on Snapdragon, highlighting the future focus on this chipset.
Despite the improvements made with the Exynos 2400, it still lagged behind competitors from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Apple. Plans to release the Exynos 2500 with more powerful cores and a cutting-edge 3nm manufacturing process have been jeopardized due to production issues.
Reports indicate that Samsung was unable to secure a sufficient volume of chips to pass quality testing, which ultimately led to the decision to abandon this model in favor of Snapdragon.
