Samsung has announced the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition, which has become the thinnest and lightest device in the Galaxy Z Fold lineup of foldable smartphones. In China, the model is expected to be renamed to Samsung Galaxy W25, as reported by Samsung.com
The launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition in South Korea is scheduled for October 25. The smartphone will be available at a price of around $2000, featuring a configuration that includes 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage, and will be offered in a single color — Black Shadow.
The device measures 10.6 mm in thickness and weighs 236 grams, which is 1.5 mm thinner and 3 grams lighter than the standard version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The main 8-inch display of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition has an aspect ratio of 20:18, while the external screen measures 6.5 inches with an aspect ratio of 21:9. The device's body is made from reinforced aluminum, and both the front and back panels are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
A standout feature of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is its upgraded camera system. For the first time in the Galaxy Z series, the device is equipped with a 200-megapixel main camera supporting optical image stabilization (OIS), along with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide module with autofocus and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera featuring 3x optical zoom. The smartphone also includes a 4-megapixel under-display camera and a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the external screen. All cameras, except for the internal one, support 4K video recording at 60 frames per second, while the main camera can record in 8K at 30 frames per second.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition operates on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor and comes with Galaxy AI and One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14. It is expected that in 2025, the device will receive an update to One UI 7.0 with Android 15, along with six more operating system updates and seven years of security updates.
The smartphone is equipped with a 4400 mAh battery that supports 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The device also supports dual SIM cards, e-SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, UWB, and a USB-C port.
