Верховный суд США отклонил просьбу об отмене приговора Трампу.

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to overturn the conviction of elected President Donald Trump in a New York court regarding payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, reports ABC.

Specifically, Chief Justice John Roberts and Republican-appointed Justice Amy Coney Barrett denied Trump's petition. The court noted that the alleged violations related to the evidence presented in the trial could be addressed through the standard appeals process.

Trump is accused of falsifying documents concerning payments made to two women, including former adult film actress Daniels, in exchange for their silence about an alleged affair. According to the investigation, the politician had a meeting with the woman in 2006, and ten years later, during his first presidential campaign, he instructed his attorney Michael Cohen to sign a nondisclosure agreement with her. In return, Daniels received $130,000 from the lawyer.

On January 8, Trump filed an emergency motion with the Supreme Court, attempting to prevent his sentencing in this case. The hearing regarding the forgery of financial documents in the transaction with Daniels is scheduled for January 10.

In May, jurors found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of indictment. However, sentencing has been postponed several times, and on November 22, Judge Merchant delayed it indefinitely. At the end of November, federal charges against Trump were dropped.
